Ah! Finally ! We wondered when this new year 2011 was going to bring us something really new! But it happened, finally it will happen in March more precisely, and it is Nespresso which opens the ball by offering us a new model: the Pixie. After making us dream of greatness with the New York buidings of the Citiz, Nespresso thought of us, poor urban people, who are forced to settle for micro-cooking. After the madness of grandeur, here is the madness of reduction, like its competitors, the Piccolo by Dolce Gusto or the Piccina by Lavazza. Its reduced size (only 11 cm wide) suggests that it will replace the current Essenza, the mini from Nespresso. However it would be reductive (ah ah!) To limit itself to its size, the Pixie is "small but sturdy" as the other would say!

Its design

Design level, it is adorned with anodized aluminum panels just to make it beautiful. The Nespresso now has a handle that you just have to press to move the capsule receptacle forward. Honestly I do not think that this is a technological advance that this handle, I precisely liked the fact of not having this kind of obstacles as on other competing machines.

His performances

In terms of performance, the Pixie provides the fastest heating time for Nespresso since you can prepare a Lungo or an Espresso in less than 30 seconds. Ecological caution required, the Pixie automatically turns off after 9 minutes of inactivity. Nespresso reports that the machine consumes 40% less energy than an average Class A appliance, which is all in all strange because I have never heard of an energy consumption class for coffee makers and even less for Nespresso.

The Pixie will be available in 7 electric colors (indigo, blue, lemon, red, aluminum and titanium) under the brands Krups and Magimix. It is sold for around € 149.

The Pixie accessory series

In addition to the machines, a whole series of accessories comes to accompany this new model imagined by 5.5 Designers. I admit that I am more seduced by the series of accessories and in particular by the capsule distributors which until now suffered from a lack of originality.
